President’s Message
22 November, 2023
Thank you for visiting this page.
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to development cooperation, with a specialized focus on agriculture and food.
Agrónomos Sin Fronteras will celebrate two decades of work in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania in 2024. During this time, we have witnessed significant changes in the region, but what has always endured is our unwavering commitment to the well-being of Tanzanian smallholder farmers and their families, who make up the majority of the rural population.
Our mission, focused on combating rural poverty, is based on breaking the vicious cycle of subsistence agriculture. We understand that the only way to do this is to increase the productivity of their small farms. Therefore, agricultural training has been and continues to be the cornerstone of our Foundation.
As a result of our experience, in the year 2024, we will complete the development of a Farmer Field School, unique in the region, of 15 hectares, which will enhance the practical training of small farmers. It is constituted as an agricultural development pole, presided over by an approach of environmental sustainability and technological innovation, which aims to invigorate the rural society of its surroundings with a long-term vision, attentive to the challenge of climate change. Currently, the school has 10 greenhouses and additional areas dedicated to experimentation and demonstration, thus enabling the dissemination of new scientific and technical knowledge and good agricultural practices.
Women and young people are prominent figures in most of our programs, as they have great entrepreneurial potential and represent driving forces for progress. In addition, we actively promote the formation of agricultural associations, which are essential for overcoming the constraints faced by small farmers as they try to gain market opportunities, obtain affordable inputs and achieve quality certifications.
Our collaboration with the School of Agronomic, Food and Biosystems Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the agreement with the Institute of Subtropical and Mediterranean Horticulture “La Mayora”, the only one of its kind in Europe, and the partnership with specialized institutions in Tanzania support us solidly, ensuring the quality of our services.
I invite you to participate in our initiative.
